Yi Qi Ling · Born into This Age

Ci. Bearing up, a whole life. Clear sun shining, the ferryboat at rest. Now drinking fruit wine, now singing along with the deer's call. Long pieces talk over the unofficial histories, short lines set down the mood of the heart. Who will join me in inviting the wind and moon—I sigh that this mortal dust so easily comes to nothing. At the sky's edge I do not know where to go; better to look at a thousand autumns of scenery, its sameness and its difference.
Glosses—
Sing along [he]: to join in the singing in harmony;
Sameness and difference: the points in which things differ and in which they agree.
