Anyang Hao · People at Peace — Reflections on the Novel Coronavirus

Anyang is good; in a year of ordinary plenty, I cherish the human world. Only when the eye passes over the emptied city, every trace of people gone, do we understand that it was the noise and clamor that raised our homeland. I long for the old rivers and hills.
On the night of the round moon, tea stains dye the golden silkworm. Merit and fault are nothing but the chasing down of right and wrong; the bitter cold is hard to forget, and one dreads sitting idle. On the front line no one has slept.
Glosses—
ordinary good year: 1. a year of ordinary good harvest;
golden silkworm: 1. a silkworm cast in gold; a kind of object buried with emperors in antiquity.
