Shishi Ling · Seeking Delight

By twos and threes, the snow-slush soaks and spreads across the wide waste. Indulgent, the lamp burns low and sleep is safe from care; whether going or staying, the spring cold has only just come down. Half awake, it weaves itself into a spirit-country that flows on; our eyes meet, and the heart scalds.
The incense ash piles and curls, the threads of wind make their sound, the fluttering slips over a slender palm. The crystal curtain stirs and stirs feeling up; in the mildness and warmth the bright moonlit evening turns to a daze. Year after year I know you are here beside me, and so the constant longing is settled at last.
Glosses—
soaks (yīn): water spreading out and seeping through;
fluttering (zhǎn fú): to flutter and drift; to brush and stir;
bright moonlit evening (lǎng xī): a clear night with a bright moon.
