Xi Jiang Yue · Sparse Shadows

The pagoda tree's hidden fragrance wakes all at once; the bright lamps burn away the whole of youth. Red walls, green tiles, a bewitching wind hums; the water-clock drips, and waking brings a stifled grief.
In the floating world, feigned madness is not feigned; leaning from a height, the bewitching shadow leaves the dust behind. In the misty blur, crimson and purple lay deep feeling to waste; puppets spread the net of fate.
Glossary—
Jū: a net for catching birds and beasts; to net; to capture.
