Luo Mei Feng: Buying Wine, Meeting a Kindred Spirit
The winter wind, bleak and rustling, rolls the white plum; cold cicadas clamor east and west. Umbrellas lost in the sleet and snow collide with a fool for letters—we talk of the ancient books.
So should the noble sons of Wuling be, holding fast the four images, a wonder to see. Wine makes a kindred spirit; we throw our learning wide open, and profit by the gains and the losses.

Buying wine (gu jiu): to purchase wine;
Sleet and snow (xian xue): the larger grains of snow and the snowflakes;
Ancient books (fen ji): the classics of antiquity;
Noble sons of Wuling: youths of wealth and rank;
