Ji Xiangsi: Spirit Marriage

The shaman shakes the bronze bells; the cool night sways the gold lamp. Knowing the road home, the wind lifts the bridal veil, the colored ribbons light as air.
Waiting for the flying soul to come robed in stars and moon, time falls silent, gathering and stitching the red maples. Longing at its utmost blurs the eyes; though our roads are separate I would go with you, borrowing a way through the netherworld.
Glosses—
Gold lamp: a lamp made of metal. The Han-attributed Record of Fathoming the Dark by Guo Xian: "There is a bright-stemmed grass that at night is like a gold lamp; break off a branch for a torch and it shows you the shapes of ghosts."
