One Thought, a Mortal Life · Stubborn and Foolish by Nature · 60 / 102
· A Traveler in the Dust

The dream blown away, the lone lamp gutters out. Propped on the pillow, I feel the faint wine burn fierce. My loosened hair falls among the flowers; in the clamorous street, carriages and horses hurry past.
Sorrow will not leave the curve of my brows; sick with wine, I press down the knot in my heart. Weary eyes, the cup drained dry — goes off to tend the green vine.
Glosses—
lone lamp (qíng): a solitary lamp;
chéng: so drunk that the senses are muddled;
sick with wine: sunk deep in drink;
wèn: to press down; to steep, to submerge.
