The clear river trickles with dreams of — a silhouette. Coming and going, it mimics the mind's own nature. Weary of brightness and clarity, I sleep among the flowers and wake, chanting the springs and autumns.

Roaming the misty mountains, the surges, heaven and man at their play. Old matters, layer on layer, traced to the end. Eight years of sickness, an idle reflection upside down — what is left is a soul scattered.

Glosses—

Trickles: to run down in drops;
Wake (xǐng): to reflect upon oneself, to come to awareness;
Heaven and man: heaven and man, the signs of the sky and the affairs of people;
Soul scattered: the soul coming apart and dispersing. It describes the extremes of grief, of joy, of terror, and the like.
