Into the grey-green mountains, wishing for nothing more—a cold moon hangs. Snow-dust settles close on my shoulders; I give the horse its head and flash past the great pass. Longing tugs at me; the ten thousand ages stand stern.
The in my arms gives back the years; war drums pound—the fires of war in an instant. The long serpent hisses and roars, setting the nether springs to a simmer. Before the hurried brush, one more story is added.
Glosses—
Snow-dust: the fine grains of snow the wind carries with it;
Flash [chè]: to streak past at great speed;
Nether springs: the underworld, the realm of the dead.
