· Set Free — On the Finale of Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace
Always hoping the news would carry a next time — never to part, never to forsake. Orchid cause and catkin fruit teach two hearts to cherish each other, borrowing the guise of helplessness.
Love seldom lasts till both heads are white; tears of regret burn down to ash. The moonlit night is cold, the lonely heart scalding, and the hang low.
Glosses—
orchid cause and catkin fruit: a figure for a marriage beautiful at its beginning and ending in separation;
borrowing: to borrow, to make use of.
