Ink & Fury

Ink & Fury

Splashed ink gathers into warriors who clash in a courtyard in the night rain. Six unarmed schools and twelve weapon schools, four main buttons, and duels decided by spacing, parries and combos — a 2D ink-wash fighting game about Chinese martial arts.

Eighteen schools

Six unarmed schools, twelve weapons

Xingyi Fist, Drunken Fist, Tai Chi Fist, Wing Chun, Hung Gar and Bagua Palm stand alongside the Iron Fan School, Twin Hooks School, Nine-Section Whip, Rope Dart, Meteor Hammer, Tai Chi Sword, Pigua Saber, Twin Sabers School, Brow-Height Staff, Fangtian Halberd, Mountain-Shaking Hammer and Six Harmonies Spear, each with male and female warriors. Close in with fists, change lines with blades, control space with polearms, or work the reach and motion of flexible weapons.

Four buttons. Room to grow.

Light attack, heavy attack, kick and Ultimate form the four main buttons. Directional inputs open up more moves; combos, parries and grapples give you ways to act on a read. Find your range, draw out an attack and punish its recovery.

Every move has a source

Moves draw on traditional forms, with preparation, contact and recovery shaping the rhythm of each technique as ink scatters with every exchange. The Move Codex records each school’s lineage, the sources of its techniques and move breakdowns, and marks what is adapted for the game or still awaiting verification.

Arcade, training & versus

Storm the Gate

The Four Courtyards: pass the Mountain Gate, choose your own path through the Fist, Short Arms, Long Arms and Flexible Arms Courtyards, three bouts each, then face your own school’s master in the Master’s Hall — fourteen stages in all. Trials set special conditions along the way, and after each courtyard you pick one of three martial insights drawn from classic manuals such as Qi Jiguang’s Jixiao Xinshu. An ink appraisal grades the whole run.

Training Hall

Learn the basics and advanced lessons, then take on combo trials. Open the move list at any time and practice spacing, timing and combos against a stationary, guarding or counterattacking training dummy.

Local & online

Play local versus in Side by Side, or challenge a friend in Online Duel with rollback netcode and Steam friend invitations. Keyboard and controller support, Mandarin warrior voices and twelve interface languages are included.

Development

Ink & Fury is in development and will launch first on Steam, with controller and Steam Deck support in progress. All eighteen schools are playable; work continues on animation, balance and the arcade mode, with more schools planned for future updates. The Steam version has not yet been released.
